About the Compass

College Compass Guide rates every accredited four-year college honestly, from official data, and free.

Most college guides lead with sticker prices and reputation. College Compass Guide leads with what families actually pay after aid, how graduates do, and honest chances of getting in, for every accredited four-year college in the U.S., large and small. Every number links to its federal source.

Why a compass?

A list tells you where to go; a compass helps you find your own way. College Compass Guide doesn’t hand families a short list of approved schools. It shows how every college measures up, with the evidence, so each family can choose the college that fits.

Independence

College Compass Guide is independent. It is not affiliated with any school it rates or any other ratings guide. No ads, no paid placements, and no money from the schools we rate. Honor Roll badges are free.

Who publishes it

The Compass is published by Thin Air Studios LLC, a Colorado company.

How it’s built

Every grade is computed from federal data by a published formula. See the methodology.
